Mike Patrick STARs Night

There was standing room only in the bar at Ashfield last night as supporters turned out to meet speedway photographer Mike Patrick who had everyone engrossed with his easy manner, tales from various speedway events and slide show of his favourite pictures.

Despite a projector problem which held proceedings up slightly, the night was well received by those present.

It started with an interview style introduction with Mike and what he does with questions and answers happily answered from the floor. The organisers did their best to minimise the effect of delay caused by the projector by moving forward their interview with George Stancl and the raffle whilst Mike himself happily chatted with people in the bar and signed copies of his book.

With the projector up and working there was a fun quiz identifying riders from some of Mike's pictures followed by a slide show of some of his favourites and the reasoning behind them.

All in all it was a very successful night with a few stories being told and an insight into some of the riders characters.

A lot of this was down to the man himself, Mike Patrick, who is undoubtedly a character himself and a very friendly and approachable one at that.

Well done to STARs and Ian Adam in particular for arranging the night, one that many would not have thought of, and giving the fans the opportunity to meet the man himself and a big thank you to Mike Patrick for taking time out of his busy schedule to travel north.
