Ashfield
Set for Quicker Times?

Glasgow Captain Shane Parker is expecting even faster
speedway at Ashfield this season after recent work on the track surface.
The past few seasons have seen the track deteriorate
with the third bend in particular developing some pretty severe ruts.
However the track has now apparently been completely
ripped up and relayed.
Shane spent a considerable amount of time working at
the track on Monday and now believes it to be in the better condition
than in any of his previous seasons with Glasgow.
The uneven track of last season has been replaced with
a more level surface which should see faster and even more competitive
racing with faster times expected.
The current track record at Ashfield is 57.6 seconds
set by Shane himself back in May 2004. The fastest time last season
was 58.0 seconds set in heat 1 of the meeting on 2nd July against
Somerset by Danny Bird but in reality the majority of times were in
the 59 or 60 second bracket.
