Wright
Doubt for Comets

Visitors Workington may be without James Wright tomorrow
for tomorrow's return leg of the Challenge meeting against Workington
at Ashfield.
Wright suffered a nasty fall in the opening heat of
their home meeting against Sheffield at Workington this evening and
was taken off to hospital to be checked over. Thankfully he was later
given the all clear but is battered and bruised and its understood
a decision on whether or not he will line up tomorrow will not be
taken till the morning.
The Comets hold what looks a pretty healthy 14 point
lead from the first leg at Derwent Park last Saturday. James Wright
showed last season that he is very comfortable on the Ashfield track
and if he does make tomorrows meeting he will be well backed up by
Kauko Nieminen on his first return to Glasgow.
Of the remainder of the team, only Craig Branney and
Jamie Robertson have ridden Ashfield before and Jamie has not had
much success there. Craig Branney did okay on his visits last season
but this year he is in the main body of the team and will find it
much more testing.
It will be interesting to see how the three 'first timers'
handle the circuit and that should have a major effect on the outcome
of the meeting. Charles Wright at reserve has surprised many already
this season and looked classy and comfortable in his outings so far
for Workington. Mattia Carpanese has so far only ridden the larger
circuits in the UK and is thought of as a big track rider to may find
Ashfield a little tricky. Kenneth Hansen has so far only ridden in
meetings at Derwent Park which makes it hard to assess him. He did
however suffer some machinery problems tonight.
It's usually an entertaining meeting when the Comets
come visiting and tomorrow promises to be no different.
