Shane Rides for 'Monarchs'

Edinburgh have drafted Shane Parker in to ride in their team this Friday in the challenge meeting against Wolves at Armadale.

Originally the 'big billing' of the challenge meeting was World Champion Jason Crump, who Edinburgh had ambitiously arranged to ride for them but this was thwarted at the weekend with Crump injured in the Swedish Grand Prix.

Now Shane has been drafted in to ride for the Monarchs select alongside their new signing Theo Pijper, Sundays guest at Ashfield Matthew Wethers, Derek Sneddon and Andrew Tully. The other two team members have yet to be named although Edinburgh have apparently approached Leigh Adams.

Its a good marketing decision by Edinburgh to include Glasgow's captain in the line up to entice a few more Glasgow fans through.

The Wolves select are expected to be along the lines of Redcar's James Grieves, Chris Kerr and Arlo Bugeja, ex-Monarchs pair Magnus Karlsson and Daniel Nermark, Newcastle's Carl Wilkinson And David Howe.
