Trent
in Long Track Action
(Posted 19/11/07)
Trent Leverington was in action in Australia over the
weekend and we are very grateful to Garry Horton for providing us
with the result and a comment on the meeting in general.
The meeting was held at the Muswellbrook Showground,
hone of the Kurri Kurri Motorcycle club and was actually a long track
event. Garry has advised that the final placing's were actually given
as :-
- Lee Herne
- Richard Sweetman
- Daniel Mason
- Trent Leverington
Garry's comments on the meeting read as follows:-
With only 8 starters in the Longtrack class
the event was conducted over a 4 round pointscore.
Lee Herne (GM) was top point scorer with
2 wins & 2 second places. Richard Sweetman (Jawa), as in the Aussie
title was consistent all night to take second place.
Unluckiest on the night was Daniel Mason
(Jawa) who broke a chain at the gate in the first round, was forced
wide in turn one of heat two dropping him back to sixth before storming
through the field to take third.
Round three was the race of the night with
Mason leading with Lee Herne all over him for the full distance &
almost snatching victory on the line. Sweetman lead heat four till
Mason passed him & pulled a big gap to win from Herne & Trent
Leverington who rode well on the night but was not on the same pace
as Longtrack specialists Mason & Herne.
The Flat Track class was won by Brent Rowe (2 wins, 2 seconds) on
a 650 Suzuki from Rowan Tungate (2 wins & second & a fifth)
riding the Redline Triumph that his father used to dominate this class
several years ago. Third overall was evergreen Jack Stephens on his
Weslake.
Chris Potts won every race to win the Evolution class on his Jawa
while the Dirt Track sidecars where won by the Tamworth pairing of
Rod O'Meley & Beau Strangl.
The stump jumpers provided excellent racing
with Rowan Tungate being on the rostrum in several classes. This kid
has a big future with rumor being that he is heading to road racing.
Alex Davies was impressive on a Suzuki slider in the U/16 250 four
stroke class despite some not so sportsman like behavior from some
of his opposition.
All in all this was a well presented & enjoyable race meeting
on possible the best Longtrack currently in use. The event drew a
strong crowd & was well organised with 53 races starting about
5.30 and finishing at 10PM.
Once again many thanks to Garry for all the
information.
