Lyons
Joins Classic Line Up
(Posted
18/10/07)
Birmingham's ex-Tiger Jason Lyons is one of the new
names announced for this Sunday's Ashfield Classic.
With injuries causing numerous problems for the organisers,
there are quite a few changes to the original line up. Whilst there
may not be any 'out and out' star name in the line up this is probably
what makes the meeting look attractive as there is no one stand out
as winner but quite a few riders who could win on the day which should
lead to some good close entertaining racing.
The revised line up is:-
- Kauko Nieminen
No introduction is needed to Kauko,
he is very popular amongst the Tigers fans and rides the track
well. He should definitely be in contention
- Josef Franc
The Newcastle rider steps in to replace
David McAllan. He has won 50% of his races at Ashfield in 2007
but will this time hopefully avoid riding on the centre green
after dispatching Lee into the fence!
- Trent Leverington
Little needs to be said obviously on
Tigers riders. On his home track on his day Trent is a formidable
opponent this year and as always will be giving his all
- Ricky Ashworth
The Sheffield rider is another who is
quick round Ashfield although many will be disappointed that his
inclusion means there is no James Grieves. His last visit in the
league with Sheffield saw him claim 2 wins as he scored 11 from
5
- Lee Dicken
The second home rider in the line up,
a fans favourite for effort but realistically unlikely to win!
- Jason Lyons
One of the late riders drafted in Jason
has looked electric round Ashfield in the past few weeks and will
be one of those challenging for the title
- George Stancl
George obviously needs little said on
him. The current holder, he will be looking to retain his crown
and on recent form should be in with a shout of doing so
- Chris Kerr
Looked impressive on his last two visits
to Ashfield. Despite being victim of a rather harsh exclusion
in the last meeting he also recorded a win, two seconds and a
third to go with the two wins two seconds and a third a couple
of weeks earlier
- Sean Stoddart
The young Scot has continued to improve
this season for Newcastle but realistically can't expect to feature
in the battle at the top
- Robert Ksiezak
Robert's form has been a little erratic
of late but all Tigers fans will just be grateful to see his name
in the line up after his horrific looking crash last week
- Jari Makinen
Jari is a bit of an unknown. The young
Fin rode for the Finland select at Armadale a few weeks back but
was injured in his opening ride. A chance for the promotion to
have a look at him in case.
- Filip Sitera
I have followed this young lads career
since he was 15 and if the potential he has shown abroad translates
to Ashfield on Sunday the fans could be in for a treat. He has
mostly ridden on the larger tracks up till now however so it will
be interesting to see how he adjusts. Filip has indicated he is
interested in a possible UK berth next season
- Kenneth Hansen
Hansen looked quite a find for Workington
when he rode in the challenge at Ashfield at the start of the
season but injury cost him his team place there. He joined Wolverhampton
in the El towards the end of the season but has struggled at the
higher level
- James Wright
Current PLRC champion, Wright is one
of the few who have managed to beat Shane Parker at Ashfield in
the last couple of years. Will be expected to challenge.
- Derek Sneddon
One of the late additions, known well
to Tigers fans and might perhaps encourage a few travelers from
the East
- To Be Advised
