Maury
Mattingly

Michael Max advised at Ashfield yesterday that former
Tigers captain Maury Mattingly is in hospital in Southampton following
a heart attack and we wish him a speedy recovery.
Maury - the 1963 Scottish Open champion - was Tigers
captain when Glasgow returned to racing in 1964 at White City after
a few years absence. He remained Tigers Captain until 1967, resigning
from the post in the May but continuing as a Tigers rider until the
end of that season.
He is certainly held in high regard by fans from that
era - Dick Barrie in his
website names him as one of the riders only just outside his personal
top ten.
