Young Shield Draw

With the cut off date for qualification now past, the teams competing in the Young Shield are now known and the quarter finals will be as follows:-

Birmingham v Mildenhall
Somerset v Stoke
Workington v Newcastle
Glasgow v Redcar

Birmingham had first choice and had already chosen Mildenhall before Wednesday night's meeting at Stoke to decide the final qualifier. Somerset were next to pick and not surprisingly they they elected for Stoke with Workington then choosing Newcastle.

As a result Glasgow are left with Redcar. the meetings between the two sides so far this season have provided very entertaining but unfortunately also provided more than their fair share of injuries. Redcar won the league aggregate point on Sunday between the two sides after staging a second half comeback.

Tigers will visit Redcar for the first leg next Thursday (4th October) with the return leg being part of a double header with Edinburgh in the Scottish Cup on 7th October.
