Shane

Shane spoke to the guys at Revival FM via the telephone
and naturally the first topic that was brought up was his crash last
week and its effect.
When asked how much he could remember of the accident
Shane basically said when things like that happen you just shut your
eyes and hope for the best! He acknowledges he was very lucky to walk
away, albeit gingerly, from the accident and is hoping that he can
get fit and be back for the end of the season.
However, his wrist is still quite bad and he has problems
with his knee especially when turning it one way or another. He is
seeing a knee specialist early next week and should have a clearer
picture after that.
When asked about his time at Glasgow he confirmed that
originally he had expected his first season at Ashfield to be his
last in British speedway after becoming disillusioned at the end of
13 years riding Elite league. Shane also said he had a good relationship
with the Glasgow promotion and the fans and had enjoyed his four years
here. On his high home average, Shane advised that he enjoyed the
Ashfield track which in his opinion is one of the best in the league
as it gives a few options when it comes to racing lines.
He is naturally disappointed and frustrated to be missing
out on the PLRC but is sure that Trent will do well.
When the presenter picked up on the hard work Shane
has done for Glasgow speedway in helping to get the Academy idea up
and running, taking speedway to the kids, Shane was quick to deflect
the praise, advising of all the hard work Gary Condie has put in to
get things up and running and co-ordinate events and the help and
backing of Fraser from FSM advertising in doing so.
