A bit hot headed but certainly an entertainer, Paul managed to spend the majority of his career with Northern clubs, despite two of his favourite tracks being Southern.

Very fit and an all round sportsman, Paul was one of the most meticulous riders when it came to meetings and did not like to be interrupted or have his concentration broken during a meeting. This led to many believing him to be a bit of a loner but out with Heats 1-15 nothing could be further from the truth as he displayed an excellent sense of humour and was popular with his team mates.

Paul's preparation and maintenance of his equipment was second to none but time seemed to catch up with him in 2005 when he struggled at the start of the season and elected to announce his retiral after 12 meetings. As recently as the start of last season there were rumours that Berwick may tempt him to return but this now seems very unlikely and he has apparently now sold all his equipment.
