George initially joined Glasgow in 2003 and held the
position of team captain until June 2004.
Many Tigers fans were disappointed, although not surprised,
when he elected to leave Glasgow last season to ride for the Newcastle
Diamonds.
However he was unable to get any form of consistency
with the Diamonds which resulted in his average dropping by almost
half a point and he approached Glasgow with a view to returning north
almost as soon as the 2006 season had finished.
He has previously had a bit of an achilles heel when
it comes to engine failures but has worked to overcome that and the
likeable Czech is popular on the Ashfield terraces. An excellent gater,
many feel that George is a bargain on his 2007 starting average of
7.83 and he will be looking forward to hopefully renewing his partnership
with Shane Parker both in heat 15's and the Premier League Pairs.
A big Ice Hockey fan, George has been riding speedway
in the UK since 1994 and has not averaged below his first season average
of 7.64 Premier League level or equivalent. As most know, he comes
from a famous Czech speedway family with his father Jiri thought by
many to be Czechoslovakia's greatest ever rider.
