Edinburgh Say No
(Posted 05/10/08)
Following on from today's Scottish Cup tie at Ashfield, where the Tigers cruelly lost out after an engine failure in heat 15 and also lost Robert Ksiezak with a broken collar bone, Edinburgh have quickly posted on their site that under no circumstances will they permit Glasgow to use a guest for Robert Ksiezak in the return leg unless that guests average is lower than Robert's.
The terse statement appeared on their official website early evening and was presumably in response to a tongue in cheek remark made by Stewart Dickson immediately after Robert broke his collarbone in a heavy heat 15 crash.
In this afternoon's meeting, Edinburgh were permitted by Glasgow, in the normal spirit of the Scottish Cup, to use Ashfield track specialist Tomas Piszcz as a guest for Jonasson instead of William Lawson, meaning that all Edinburgh riders were eligible to take r/r rides.
The statement reads:-
The Edinburgh promotion have turned down any suggestion of Glasgow using a replacement for Robert Ksiezak with an average above the Aussie's 6.62. Scottish Cup practise allows guests but the average must be below the rider being replaced.
