Mitchell Injury Scare at Redcar
(Posted 29/08/08)
The injury jinx that seems to be following Tigers riders who guest around this year struck again last night with Mitchell Davey being the innocent victim in an awful heat 14 crash at Redcar.
The incident happened when his team mate fro the night Matty Hlavacek, who had been a bit erratic in his previous races, for some reason tried to dive inside Mitchell, lost control as he picked up grip and sent Mitchell heavily into the fence, bringing Chris Kerr down at the same time.
Mitchell bore the brunt of the accident and the medics spent some time with him checking him over before he returned to the pits. He was complaining of breathing difficulties however and was therefore taken to the local hospital to be checked over.
His sister has posted on Easy Tiger this morning to advise that Mitchell has been very lucky in that he 'only' has bruised ribs and nothing is broken - although as anyone who has suffered bruised ribs will know it is a very painful and sometimes debilitating condition.
Prior to the accident, which saw the meeting abandoned, Mitchell had looked very comfortable guesting for what was in all honesty a very poor looking Diamonds side. He looked smooth as he scored 4 points from his opening 3 rides, and the home fans were impressed at how much more comfortable he looked than on his previous visit with the Tigers just one week earlier.
Glasgow will now be monitoring things very closely to see if there is any way Mitchell will be fit to take his place in the team this weekend. get well soon Mitchell.
