Although the promotion were probably hoping to wait to announce it on Friday, the good news has been confirmed that Shane Parker will once again be in Glasgow colours in 2009.

It was no secret that last year took its toll on Shane and this could possibly be his last year. His health problems were not helped by the traveling (and possibly returning to speedway far too soon) and there were genuine worries amongst the Glasgow fans that Shane may consider a base nearer home for next season.

As was stated in the press, King's Lynn had spoken to Shane but the team who made the recent attempt to lure him away from Ashfield were in fact Birmingham.

However Shane has made no secret that he has enjoyed his time at Ashfield and despite Birmingham being his local track he has committed to Glasgow for what many expect to be his last season in British Speedway.

Welcome back home Shane!
