The Messiah returns in 2008 to lead a young developing Tigers side in what could be his most challenging season yet as Tigers captain. There is no doubt that his leadership and experience will be crucial.

Shane finished 2007 on the injured list, having managed to increase his average by 0.13 overall but only just falling short of an amazing 11 point home average (minus bonus).

Yet again the Tigers benefitted from his work off track as well as on track with Shane again devoting a fair bit of time to help publicise the Tigers in the community and especially helping out with the Speedway Study Support Centre at Ibrox. He also continued his work with the SRA but none of this distracted Shane from his Captains role in the pits.
