GTSSC AGM
(13/02/07)
The GTSSC AGM took place at Firhill last night with Ann Coleman taking the Chair for the last time whilst Secretary Donna McDougall and Social Convenor Alan McFarlane also stood down after the AGM.
The business side of the meeting saw Ann advise that GTSSC income was slightly up thanks mainly to the 50/50 draw sales although the amount of space allocated to the Supporters Club in the programme was down. In addition, Alan McFarlane had managed to get sponsorship for all the end of season trophies therefore cutting costs. The dance was praised as one of the best ever.
Glen Marsland gave his treasurers report advising that the weekly draw had increased by 15% and the balance of presentations made by the GTSSC had saw a higher percentage go to the riders in 2006.
From the floor, it was pointed out that there was a typing error in the minutes distributed to members - the final sentence on the opening page should have read that the Supporters Club DOES exist for the benefit of its members.
The following suggestions were made from the floor for the Committee's consideration:-
- as riders come and go the committee should re-consider last years decision to give a higher proportion of monies raised to the riders and that in fact the higher proportion should go to the promotion
- the amount of money given to riders at the dance should be re-considered
- more use could be made of e-mail communication rather than snail mail to reduce costs
The election of Office Bearers for the coming year then took place with Ann Coleman advising she was standing down for health reasons, Donna McDougall declining the invitation to return and Alan McFarlane advising that work commitments meant he had to stand down as Social Convenor.
The positions for 2007 were filled as follows:-
| Chair:- |
Nan Ross |
| Treasurer:- |
Glen Marsland |
| Secretary:- |
Paul Colton |
| Travel Convenor:- |
Len Wright |
| Social Convenor:- |
still vacant |
The Committee are still looking for a Social Convenor although Alan McFarlane is continuing with the post until after the race night planned for March.
These are merely notes of our recollection of the meeting.
