After over a season out with a serious arm injury, a very much taller James returned to riding inn 2007, building his confidence with second half rides and then as part of the Glasgow Giants academy league side.

After an understandably slow start he had some good meetings for the Giants and finished off the season with a good display in the Heathersfield Open - winning the 'Mr Entertainer' award for his gutsy display in poor weather conditions with only eventual winner Gary Beaton and second place Adam McKinna lowering his colours.

He seemed to stall a little last season and obviously is not helped by the lack of opportunities for young riders below Premier League level north of the border at the moment.
