After three seasons racing in Glasgow colours, Robert decided the time was right to move away in 2009 to progress his career further, using the opportunity to secure a team place in Poland as well as with Birmingham in the Premier League.
He remains a Glasgow asset however and there is no animosity in his departure.
Robert originally came to the UK and joined Edinburgh but after an horrific injury in 2005 he was left out of the Monarchs side for 2006 and Glasgow took the chance to step in and bring him to Glasgow, buying his contract one season later. Over the next three years, Robert steadily improved his average at Glasgow, benefiting in the early days from riding at reserve and also from being under the watchful eye of mentor Shane Parker.
He also gained some experience at Elite League level in 2008 after being named as Belle Vue's number 8 and surprised a few people at that level doing a number of meetings at reserve due to Belle Vue's injury crises.
As a youngster Robert was originally a talented BMX rider, only taking up speedway at 13. Since then he has progressed steadily and last year competed in the World Junior Solo Championships semi final in Croatia and additionally represented Australia in the U21 team World Cup in Denmark where they finished 4th.
