Robert seemed to be more or less out of speedway but started racing again in 2006 turning out in the hastily put together field for the Heathersfield Open at the end of October that year

However in 2007 he did not ride. Although he rode a few times in 2008 he is another who suffers from the lack of available competitive racing for those based in the North not yet at Premier League standard. He finished the season with a very solid performance in the Heathersfield meeting, finishing in 4th place.

Robert is another rider who started at Linlithgow in 1999 at conference league level, riding conference league until the end of 2002.

During that time, he had a very brief spell of 3 meetings in the main team at Glasgow in 2000 due to injury but managed an average of 2.22 in his 9 rides.
