Ever since he left Glasgow, the Tigers fans have been wondering when James would return. He had said himself that he always wanted to return 'home' before the end of his career and after winning the Ashfield Classic at the end of last season the Tigers moved quickly to secure his services for 2009.

Financial uncertainty at Redcar last season coupled with family life in Paisley probably played a major part in that decision but it is a signing that has gone down very well with the support.

Since leaving Glasgow James has spent a couple of seasons at Newcastle and a couple of seasons at redcar and matured into one of the top riders in the Premier League. A few years ago, James listed his ambition to be in the top ten of the Premier League riders averages. In three out of the last four years he has got very close, finishing 12th on each occasion.

James signing means that Glasgow will have two out and out heat leaders for 2009 and there is no reason why James should not be challenging Shane for the number 1 position throughout the season..
