Lee Smart came in to Glasgow's side as a 28 day replacement for the injured Anders Andersen and was an immediate hit with the fans.
Unfortunately Tigers and Lee were caught up in a bit of a fankle with new rules. The National League - the old Conference League - had gone semi professional and Lee had started the season with Weymouth. It went to the Management Committee who decided that, unlike before, a rider could not leave his National League club to join a PL outfit and this almost certainly cost Lee - and Glasgow - the chance of making the arrangement more permanent. It was also decreed after Glasgow signed him that his Weymouth Friday night fixtures took precedence which also caused problems.
It did not stop Lee showing his commitment to getting a PL place by being one of the few riders willing to travel up north for home meetings, in his case from Swindon.
Lee has being riding bikes since he was 2 years old, starting speedway at 8. He has had quite a few teams since riding in his first meeting for Swindon in 2003, including Stoke, Mildenhall, Weymouth, Somerset and Birmingham - where many expect to see him return shortly.
