Mitchell came over to Glasgow in 2008 alongside Josh Grajczonek and its fair to say had a tough baptism to UK speedway, having to start in the main body of the team and suffering a few heavy falls and concussions.

His character came through though and by the end of the season his confidence considerably increased and he started to settle down, making him one of the first names on the promotions team sheet for 2009 on what is seen as a bargain 3.00 point average.

A stylish rider, Mitchell has had to learn to be a bit tougher and once again 2009 will be an important year for him.

Mitchell has been racing since the age of six and has even competed in team events in Australia alongside his dad who also rides. Like many of the Australians he also rode longtrack and dirt track at junior level .
