The event was a victim of the number of postponements in the league last year in a season that most were pretty glad to see the back off.
It is now scheduled to open the season at Ashfield on the 20th of March, subject to approval, and with the new track and a new track record to be set it will be very interesting to see - nearer the time - the riders who accept invitations to take part.
Undoubtedly the current 1-7 will want their own crack at it and at least 3 of them will surely be in with a shout of claiming the first track record on the new track. It will be interesting to see if the old track record holder Shane Parker will get an invite to have a go at the new one.
The individual events tend to be a bit better supported at the beginning of the season and it could indeed live up to its name as a Classic to open the new track and start a season that holds a lot of promise in so far as Premier League racing is concerned.
